Bending test is the test to determine the mechanical properties of a material when subjected to a bending load, It is one of the basic methods of material mechanical performance testing. In the bending test, one side of the sample is uniaxially stretched, and the other side is unidirectionally compressed. The maximum normal stress appears on the surface of the sample and is sensitive to surface defects. Therefore, the bending test is often used to inspect material surface defects such as carburization or The quality of the surface hardened layer, etc. In addition, for brittle materials, because they are sensitive to eccentricity, it is not easy to accurately measure their mechanical properties using tensile tests. Therefore, bending tests are commonly used to determine their flexural strength and compare the deformation capabilities of the materials.
