J-Moss is the Japanese compulsory industry standard JIS C 0950 "Specific Chemical Substance Content Marking in Electrical and Electronic Equipment" (commonly known as Japan RoHS), which stipulates the "marking" of specific chemical substances in 7 kinds of electrical and electronic products Rules and their concentration limits, and provide detailed guidance on the labeling of these hazardous substances. In addition, Japan’s Law on the Promotion of Effective Utilization of Resources (Japanese Recycling Law) also requires companies to indicate whether they contain six hazardous substances in certain types of electrical and electronic products.
The new version of the Japanese Industrial Standards Act JIS C 0950: 2021 was officially implemented on March 22, 2021 and replaced the old version of JIS C 0950: 2008. Compared with the previous version, the main difference lies in the orange logo and the revision of the exemption items. The standard specifies the method for marking the content of specific chemical substances in seven categories of electrical and electronic products (personal computers, unit air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, and clothes dryers). At the same time, it is stipulated that electrical and electronic products that are not within the scope of J-MOSS products can also refer to the law to manage specific chemical substances.
Hazardous substances limit requirements:
substance | Limited |
Lead (Pb) | 0.1% |
Cadmium (Cd) | 0.01% |
Mercury (Hg) | 0.1% |
Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+) | 0.1% |
Polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) | 0.1% |
Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) | 0.1% |
Marking requirements:
If the content of any one of the six controlled substances exceeds the standard value and is not within the scope of exemption in the seven major categories of products under control, it is mandatory to label the product with a label (orange label) and list hazardous substances in the equipment on the relevant website Contains the situation. If the content of the six controlled substances does not exceed the maximum concentration limit, you can apply for the use of the green mark.
