With the widespread use of audio and information technology in electronic products, the integration between audio equipment and information technology equipment is getting higher and higher. It makes more overlap between IEC 60950 and IEC 60065 testing scope, which is sometimes too difficult to distinguish clearly. Therefore, the International Electrotechnical published 2010 IEC 62368-1 "Audio, Video, Information and Communication Equipment Part 1: Safety Requirements" (1st edition) on January 21, 2021. It is based on safety engineering concept to prevent potential risk.
IEC 62368-1 is a new standard rather than the combination of IEC 60950-1 and IEC 60065. Although there are many similarities between them, IEC62368-1 is with new definition and new thinking. Not only lists test conditions, it also indicates the origin of the requirements. It is an innovation of safety standards, which raise product safety from being based on dangerous judgments and relying on experience to independent technical means.
Since the first edition of IEC62368-1 standard released, it has been continuously updated and improved. It has been upgraded to the third edition, and it has been used in many countries compulsorily. To a certain extent, it has completely replaced the existing IEC 60950-1 and IEC 60065 standard. With the continuous development of electronic products, IEC 62368-1 will be updated and developed to improve product safety in the future.
